Well Friday we went on a field trip
we went to Tonala again but this time it was with other groups of students and it was for school. We went to the Lupita muneca fabrica and then to the fabrica de vidrio. They were cool really cool!
Then we went to this..it wasn't really a fabrica..it's like a family business where they make these amazing decorated plates and dishes. One juego takes a year for them to make and it costs 25,000 USD!! I guess President Obama and the PM or whatever of Canada each have half a set. Interesting story...Obama and the Canada PM went to Mexico and they were having a dinner with the President of Mexica. The President of Mexico wanted to use the dishes of this family business for the dinner but he couldn't buy them so he rented them.
Then at the dinner President Obama like it and decided to take one of the items and he went to put it in his pocket. The Mexican President was like no, no you can't take that. But then because the visiting leaders liked it he told them they could each have half the set. It took the Mexican President 3 months to pay for the juego. It seems really stupid to me but whatever.
After that place we walked around the centro there
ha ha for real! It's crazy! and I bought this sweet **** for my parents to hang on the wall in the pool house or something..it's hard for me to figure out what to bring everyone ha...
I bet it from this really cool young guy and it was only 40 pesos
He gave me a WAY good deal...that's when it pays to be a guerita ha ha
Then we hung out with our cleaning girl...se llama Miriam Friday night. She's 20 and we don't usually get to see or talk to her very much and she will never eat with us but I always ask her to when the family is gone but she always says no..BUT this weekend when the family was gone she did! ha ha and then she asked me to go with her to get milk down the street and we got ice cream and we watched a movie and I showed her all my wedding stuff ha ha
Yesterday we went to Chapala Lago. I went on a cool boat ride out to this island in the middle where there are 4 restaurants. I guess if you take the boat ride for a long time you can go see these really big ruinas that are there, but we didn't have time to do that :-( But it was really cool to see the landscape and how different it is in that area. That lake is HUGE!!
After the boat ride we walked around there for awhile. I found some pretty fans and I thought about buying them, but I decided to wait and see what I find in PV.
After that we went to Ajijic and went to a tortilleria...and they gave us FRESH tortillas and we ate them with salt rolled up...oh my they were so tasty. I usually, and probably still do prefer harina, but fresh off the belt they were delicious! That place was full of old Americans and super touristy...it was SO weird! We didn't like how they assumed they couldn't speak to us in Spanish ha ha it was weird for us lol And it was funny because the vendors would speak to us in English and we would respond in Spanish and then they would speak more English and we would speak more Spanish and they seemed surprised ha ha But that is a good way to do it when they are trying to learn English and we are trying to learn Spanish.
After checking out some stores and seeing the lake we went to a hotel that an Autonoma dean owns to have lunch and we swam in the pool there and stuff. Michelle and I sat with Alyssa, Ashley, and Romney and we had SO much fun during lunch. We were the only ones who decided to order a la cart instead of eat the buffet...we were trying to be more healthy lol and it worked out great! And we had such a good time. They are all SO funny and SO cute! I love them!
Then last night we accidentally broke the glass table of our parents because..well they got new furniture and so there is a ton of couches in the living room right now and we moved the couch and tipped the table and the glass fell out...that was exciting. We felt SO bad. I wrote a note to our parents because we were going to be gone when they returned. It's really hard to express strong emotions in Spanish for us so that was interesting ha. Poor Michelle was SO stressed about it all night and all day today. We cleaned the entire floor for like an hour. I was just SO glad that a big shard of glass didn't land in her foot!!
But when we got home tonight they weren't even mad but we'll have to get them some new glass
Today we had church and then that was over at 2 and then we had to prepare for our program
We ate and then practiced for a while. Then we had a break time and I gave a little devotional before the program. The program went fine I think. After wards we got tacos del pastor (It's the meat that is cooked with the pineapple above it so the juice runs over it while it cooks)!! It was SOO good!
A few of the guys in our stake took us and they forced us to let them pay for us. It was really good food! Michelle and I shared a plate of the meat and then we had tortillas and pina and all the normal sauces and toppings. It was delicious!
We were very excited to have our family back home tonight. I missed them!! Gerardo has been very concerned about us leaving...it's going to be SO sad!!
Wedding plans are coming along...it has been quite a challenge working the details out from here ha. I think it's made my experience different from the experience my group mates have had...but I'm getting married in like 34 days!! And I couldn't be happier!!
I need to catch up from all my other days...ugh but I feel like this is a start!
This week will be CRAZY! We have a paper, a test, a presentation, a fiesta, service, and we go to PV on Saturday!! I CAN'T wait!! A crazy week ahead though! Que divertido!!
